A Brief Intro
I am guided by the idea that we are each given a gift, and that it's our responsibility to use it to create value for the world. As a cinematographer, my passion for visual storytelling has given me the opportunity to work with incredible filmmakers, brands, and visionaries. Despite over 14 years in the industry, the thrill of stepping onto a set, drawing inspiration and creative energy from my collaborators, and having the best seat in the house to the most amazing human performances remains as exciting as it did on day one.
I was born in Manila, Philippines and moved to Japan at the age of 4. With my dad serving in the U.S. Navy, I quickly adapted to relocating every three to four years. This transient lifestyle allowed me to experience life and light through the lens of a Filipino kid against the fascinating backdrops of the Okinawa and Kanagawa prefectures.
Fast forward several years later, my growing interest for still photography evolved into a healthy obsession for motion pictures. I completed a Bachelors degree in Multimedia Arts, joined a Director’s Apprenticeship Program with my first and late mentor, Peque Gallaga, then jumped head-first into commercial production as an Offline Editor for a post-production house.
The universe knew my deepest aspirations and luckily enough, I connected with a producer who gave me an opportunity to shoot second unit on a lifestyle television show. That blossomed to more opportunities in television, film, and commercials, further fuelling my passion for the craft.
